New Signings Added and a Small Update

Hey all I know its been a really long time since we updated this site. New signings have been added to the events page and will continue to be updated throughout summer into fall. If you know of any author signings or festivals headed to your state please let me know in the comments. I'll gladly add them to the page.

Hoping to add a few new features to the blog, such as southern author interviews and book spotlights. Keep checking back for more exciting news as I'm planning to post at least once a week.

2014 Debut Authors of the South: January-February

Happy New Year southern readers! To help celebrate 2014, I thought it would be a fun idea to take a look at some of the Southern Authors who'll be debuting this year.

December/January -

The Promise of Amazing
December 31st: The Promise of Amazing by Robin Constantine
Synopsis: Wren Caswell is average. She is the quiet, “good” girl who's always done what she's supposed to—only now in her junior year, this passive strategy is backfiring. She wants to change, but doesn’t know how.

Grayson Barrett was the king of St. Gabe’s. Star of the lacrosse team, top of his class, on a fast track to a brilliant future—until he was expelled for being a “term paper pimp.” Now Gray is in a downward spiral and needs to change, but doesn’t know how.

One fateful night their paths cross when Wren, working at her family’s Arthurian-themed catering hall, performs the Heimlich on Gray as he chokes on a cocktail weenie, saving his life literally and figuratively. What follows is the complicated, hilarious, and tender tale of two teens shedding their pasts, figuring out who they are—and falling in love.

About Robin:

Robin Constantine is a born and bred Jersey Girl who moved down South so she could wear flip-flops all year round. She spends her days dreaming up stories where love conquers all, well, eventually but not without a lot of peril, angst and the occasional kissing scene.

Fake ID
January 21st: Fake ID by Lamar Giles
Synopsis: Nick Pearson is hiding in plain sight. In fact, his name isn't really Nick Pearson. He shouldn't tell you his real name, his real hometown, or why his family just moved to Stepton, Virginia. And he definitely shouldn't tell you about his friend Eli Cruz and the major conspiracy Eli was uncovering when he died. About how Nick had to choose between solving Eli's murder with his hot sister, Reya, and "staying low-key" like the Program said to do.

But he's going to tell you—unless he gets caught first. . . .

About Lamar:

Lamar Giles has been writing for a very long time. He's sold some stuff, published some stuff on his own and even won some awards. Lamar grew up in a town called Hopewell, VA and now resides in the great city of Chesapeake, VA with his wife. Fake ID will be published by Harpercollins in early 2014, and yeah, it's kind of a big deal.

February -

February 11th: All That Glows by Ryan Graudin
Synopsis: Emrys—a fiery, red-headed Fae—always embraced her life in the Highlands, far from the city’s draining technology, until she’s sent to London to rejoin the Faery Guard. But this isn’t any normal assignment—she’s sent to guard Prince Richard: Britain’s notorious, partying bad boy and soon-to-be King. The prince’s careless ways and royal blood make him the irresistible for the dark spirits that feed on mortals. Sweet, disheveled, and alive with adventure—Richard is one charge who will put Emrys’s magic and heart to the test.

When an ancient force begins preying on the monarchy, Emrys must hunt through the London’s magical underworld, facing down Banshees, Black Dogs and Green Women to find the one who threatens Richard’s life. In this chaos of dark magic, palace murders and paparazzi, Emrys finds herself facing an impossible choice. For despite all her powers, Emrys has discovered a force that burns brighter than magic: love.

About Ryan:

Ryan Graudin writes books. Some are about rowdy-partying princes and their faery guardians (All That Glows from HarperTeen). While others are about teenagers fighting for their lives in the slums of Hak Nam Walled City (The Walled City from Little Brown, Fall 2014). Ryan love writing, traveling to new lands, drinking chai lattes and hanging Christmas lights.

February 25th: The Secret Diamond Sisters by Michelle Madow
Synopsis: Savannah. Courtney. Peyton.

The three sisters grew up not knowing their father and not quite catching a break. But it looks like their luck is about to change when they find out the secret identity of their long-lost dad—a billionaire Las Vegas hotel owner who wants them to come live in a gorgeous penthouse hotel suite. Suddenly the Strip's most exclusive clubs are all-access, and with an unlimited credit card each, it should be easier than ever to fit right in. But in a town full of secrets and illusion, fitting in is nothing compared to finding out the truth about their past.

About Michelle:

Michelle Madows graduated from Rollins College in 2010, cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English. She lives in Boca Raton, Florida, where she is busy writing more novels for young adults.  Michelle loves reading, traveling, shopping, sunshine, Disney fairy tales, Broadway musicals and spending way to much time on Facebook and Twitter.

February 25th: Faking Normal by Courtney C. Stevens
Synopsis: Alexi Littrell hasn't told anyone what happened to her over the summer. Ashamed and embarrassed, she hides in her closet and compulsively scratches the back of her neck, trying to make the outside hurt more than the inside does.

When Bodee Lennox, the quiet and awkward boy next door, comes to live with the Littrells, Alexi discovers an unlikely friend in "the Kool-Aid Kid," who has secrets of his own. As they lean on each other for support, Alexi gives him the strength to deal with his past, and Bodee helps her find the courage to finally face the truth.

Courtney C. Stevens
About Courtney:

Courtney C. Stevens grew up in Kentucky and lives in Nashville, Tennessee. She likes to write with the music on but revise and read in silence. She is an adjunct professor and a former youth minister. Her other skills include playing hide-and-seek, climbing trees, and being an Olympic torch bearer.
